Bryan Silbermann, Founder

Bryan founded Lumenir Innovations in 2011 with the vision of providing companies with access to the finest engineering minds in the business, bringing an outside perspective but equal passion to all design and innovation challenges. Since the company’s launch, Bryan has built an agile team of leading engineers and innovators with global reputations for outstanding commitment and excellence in their fields, and who are renowned communicators all.

Prior to founding Lumenir Innovations, Bryan held a number of hardware engineering management and consultancy roles at companies including SanDisk, Pliant Technology – where he developed the next generation 2.5 inch form-factor SSD, AMCC – where he was brought in to resolve key design issues and Seagate. A consultancy role at Tesla quickly evolved into a position for Bryan on the product development team as the key hardware engineer on board-level designs including: HVAC controller, DC Motor Controller, Stepper Motor Controller and Electric Vehicle Home Charging Station (EVSE).

Bryan is an alumnus of  San Francisco State University with continuing education at Stanford University.

Paul Stonelake, VP Engineering

Vice President of Engineering, Paul brings exceptional expertise in Firmware to the Lumenir Innovations team. Paul joined us from SanDisk, where he held the position of Director of Firmware. In that role Paul was responsible for delivering 6Gb SAS enterprise SSDs to market, which included successful qualification with 4 tier 1 storage OEMs.

Originally from Scotland, Paul has held a number of Firmware engineering positions, including Firmware Manager at Pliant Technology, LSI, and AMCC. Prior to that Paul was one of the principle architects responsible for creating the 2nd generation 3ware RAID stack and bringing it to market. The firmware has been ported to 5 hardware platforms and is still shipping today.

Paul holds a Master of Engineering, Physics and Electronics from the University of Glasgow.

Duncan C. Gray Jr., Director Hardware

As Director of Hardware Engineering, Duncan oversees the day-to-day operation of hardware design including boards and FPGAs. A Systems Engineer and Manager with Analog, Digital, Software, Telecom, high-precision timekeeping and Signal Processing specialties, his vision at Lumenir Innovations is to leverage his vast knowledge of electronics and firmware to lead new product development teams to achieve on-time and on-budget solutions.

Prior to joining Lumenir Innovations, Duncan held the role of Senior Principal Systems Engineer, EE Group at St Jude Medical where he gained a reputation for issue-resolution and effective, practical communication of complex areas. He has previously held lead engineer positions at Digidesign (a division of Avid Technology), Keithley Instruments, Inc, Teknovus and Mahi Networks, Inc, reflective of his strategic mindset and technical excellence.

Duncan is the author of “To Test or Not To Test … The Board Authority (Supp. to Circuitree)” and holds the US patent for Method and Apparatus for Accommodating TDM Traffic in an Ethernet Passive Optical Network (theoretical contributions) (US7,590,139).

Ken Silbermann, VP Operations

Ken brings over twenty-five years in senior program manager roles from some of the world’s most innovative tech companies. Immediately prior to joining the Lumenir Innovations, Ken held the role of Senior Program Manager at Avid Technology where he brought in Digidesign 003(r) Rack+ Factory (an affordable and portable professional Pro Tools(r) music recording and production solution) ahead of schedule and under COGS target. His technical knowledge coupled with his superior commercial acumen led to a consultancy role at AMCC becoming a permanent role directing the Storage BU Program Management Department, reporting to the Senior Vice President and General Manager of Business Unit.

Having successfully founded his own company, Globalpix, in 2002, 
Ken has first-hand experience of creating a company from the ground up and understanding the challenges and opportunities fledging tech companies can face. Ken exemplifies Lumenir Innovation’s spirit of water-tight program management and a tenacious approach to problem-solving.

Ken holds a B.S. in Business Administration from Cal State University.
